Development of the Territory’s space industry has taken an important leap forward with release of the draft Territory Space Strategy 2021-25, which is now open for feedback.
The draft strategy sets out targeted, practical options to grow the space industry, attract investment and create new jobs, and establishes a vision for the Northern Territory to be recognised as:
the home of high altitude pseudo-satellites in the Indo-Pacific region
Australia’s premier space launch location
a leading regional centre for ground station facilities.
Recent and forthcoming space industry investment will unlock new growth and job opportunities through the supply chain, with flow on benefits to construction, hospitality, tourism and beyond.
The space industry is not limited to upstream and enabling infrastructure. Our economy and society is increasingly reliant on space technology, from our mobile phones to bushfire management and the operation of key traditional industries such as mining and agriculture. The productivity and efficiency of practically every sector has potential for enhancement through space-enabled products and services.
How to have your say
Territorians, business and industry are encouraged to have their say on the draft strategy, with your input essential to inform future industry development decisions made by the Northern Territory Government.
You can have your say through:
the survey below (closes at 5pm, Thursday 19 August 2021)
attaching a written submission at the end of the survey
