The Department of Education supports safe, supportive, equitable and inclusive learning environments for all children and young people regardless of their sexuality, gender identity or gender expression.
The department has developed a Statement of Commitment which specifically focuses on the need to develop and accept genuine personal identities and positive, healthy, equitable and respectful relationships. It identifies our principles to achieve this and the 4 key focus areas to support children and young people.
Your views are now being sought on the Statement of Commitment. We want to know what the department and education settings can improve and / or implement to better support diverse sexuality, gender identity and gender expression in education.

The Statement of Commitment - Supporting Diversity of Sexuality, Gender Identity and Gender Expression in Education - complements the Northern Territory Government's commitment to reducing domestic, family and sexual violence, achieving gender equality, and supporting sexuality and gender identity, particularly in areas of education, prevention and early intervention.
