Message from the Chief Fire Officer, Stephen Sewell AFSM

The establishment of the new agency, Northern Territory Fire and Emergency Services (NTFES) has the potential to change emergency management for the Territory. For the agency to evolve, the Commissioner Andrew Warton issued the NTFES Strategic Plan (Strategic Plan) which will shape and guide us until 2028. The Strategic Plan was developed during the Commissioner’s first 100 days, through a series of workshops involving senior leaders from all three agencies.

As part of our commitment to delivering on the priorities outlined in the Strategic Plan, each agency is required to develop an Action Plan. The Northern Territory Fire and Rescue Service (NTFRS) Action Plan provides a valuable opportunity to define how we will contribute to achieving the strategic goals while addressing the unique needs and strengths of our agency.

This survey involves a series of questions that relates to our four strategic goals that you can comment on to shape our Action Plan:

  1. Community safety and preparedness
  2. Protect territory lifestyle and economy
  3. Invest in our people
  4. Innovation, research and operational intelligence.

Our greatest asset is our members. Every member, regardless of rank or role, plays a vital part in protecting the lives of Territorians, their property and our unique environment. As we develop our Action Plan, you have an opportunity to ensure our efforts reflect our values and support how we will grow, improve and continue to serve our community effectively.

I invite you to take a few moments to complete this important survey. Your contribution will play a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction of the NTFRS and ensuring it reflects the perspectives of our workforce.
