The NT Government is seeking feedback on a proposed planning scheme amendment to increase the maximum floor area for dwelling-independents in the NT Planning Scheme 2020.

The proposal seeks to align the maximum floor space requirements for dwelling-independents with provisions found in Australian Standard 4299-1995: Adaptable housing. Increasing the floor space requirement for dwelling-independents from 50 m2 to 75 m2 will allow developers, housing providers and homeowners to provide liveable and adaptable housing for Territorians aging in place.

To talk to a planner or view the planning scheme amendment, visit Development Applications Online.

Closing date for all feedback is Friday 1 September 2023.
