Education Engagement Strategy

The Northern Territory Department of Education is developing an Engagement Strategy for all children and young people, from birth to Year 12. This includes young people in flexible learning arrangements, non-government schools and early childhood education services.

The Engagement Strategy has the primary aim of engaging every child and young person in learning by listening to the voices of children, students, parents and community to ensure education services respond to their needs and aspirations.

The project is looking at previous and recent consultations that document the feedback received over time in relation to student engagement. This takes an historical and holistic approach to gathering community voices and combines these with newly gathered feedback which will be obtained through deep listening and targeted conversations with community.

The focus for consultation is the following proposition:

We want to know what schools, early years programs and the department can do to engage all children and young people in learning.

Consultation is occurring in a range of ways across the Territory, aligned to the framework of the Education Engagement Strategy Discussion Paper.

The Have Your Say website is an opportunity for you to email a submission, complete the online submission form or share your story – by uploading a video or picture. Submissions are welcomed from both individuals and groups.

Submissions will be accepted via this website from Midday, Thursday 27 May 2021 until 5pm Sunday 1 August 2021.

There are a range of other ways you can provide feedback to inform the strategy, including public meetings and workshops in your region. These are:
