Future of the Howard Springs Accommodation Village
Consultation has concluded
The Territory Government is providing an opportunity for you to share your ideas on the future use of the Howard Springs Accommodation Village while it is also considering various commercial uses of the site.
The Howard Springs Accommodation Village is located at 140 Howard Springs Road.
The Village precinct is approximately 67 hectares in size, and was constructed to accommodate up to 3500 Fly In Fly Out employees required to construct the US$34 billion LNG facility at Bladin Point.
All existing infrastructure at the Village has been transferred to the Territory Government.
The infrastructure onsite includes:
Permanent facilities including;
- Medical centre
- Kiosk
- Commercial kitchen and dining hall
- Tavern
- Indoor air-conditioned sports centre
- Spin room
- Gym
- 25m x 21m swimming pool
- 2 tennis and 2 basketball courts
- 2 beach volleyball areas
- 1 cricket pitch
- A sports oval
- 2700 m running track
- 55 person mini theatre
- Music room and reading room
- 21 station internet kiosk area
- General gaming room
Transportable infrastructure including;
- 44 laundry buildings
- 875 accommodation units making up 3500 bedrooms with ensuites
Permanent infrastructure including;
- Power, water and sewerage servicing
- Internal roads and headworks for the central facilities and transportable buildings
Tour the Village
Guided public tours of the Village will be conducted on Saturday, 27 July 2019. Please note, members of the public will only be able to tour the facility if they have registered prior via this website. Strictly no walk-up registrations on the day. Positions are limited and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. Registration for the tours have now closed. For further information email SIP@nt.gov.au
How to have your say
The infrastructure and assets constructed by the project are significant and have the potential to support a range of uses which will benefit the Territory. These could include commercial, tourism, sporting or education and training related activities.
The Territory Government is seeking suggestions for the future use of the Village whilst currently considering various commercial future uses of the Village.
Have your say by completing the survey on this website by 6 August 2019.
What happens next?
Suggestions by the public on the future use of the Village and its facilities will be considered in the final decision by Government about how the site and its assets will be used. The Territory must achieve a balance between risk and opportunity when considering future options for the village and its assets, and the chosen option must provide value for Territorians and be commercially viable.
