The Territory Wildlife Park Strategic Plan 2024–2029 will provide a clear vision for the future of the Territory Wildlife Park over the next five years. It will outline our approach to enhance visitor enjoyment and community engagement, expand conservation, education and research efforts, as well as develop and strengthen business opportunities to ensure the ongoing sustainability of the Territory Wildlife Park.
To ensure the incoming Strategic Plan accurately reflects what we stand for and our future priorities, we’d like to hear how the Northern Territory Government (NTG) can meet your aspirations for our much loved park.
This consultation paper outlines our vision and our values. It presents strategic themes and a range of thought provoking questions for you to consider about the future of the Territory Wildlife Park.
The Park connects visitors with the natural environment through authentic wildlife encounters and exciting nature-based experiences. It plays an important role inspiring change and long term action by developing environmental awareness, and it plays a central role in facilitating and advocating important conservation programs in Northern Australia. It is an integral part of the wider Top End community, underpinned by a strong public sentiment being a community asset. It also, very importantly, provides Darwin and rural area residents with recreational opportunities.
The ideas and insights you provide in response to this document will help us draft a Strategic Plan that aligns as much as possible with people’s expectations, whilst still ensuring that the Park has a sustainable future as a business. There will be an opportunity to comment again on the draft Strategic Plan later in 2024.
