Consultation has concluded
The Northern Territory (NT) Government is imagining a new beginning for real estate in the Territory and is committed to redeveloping the Shiers Street housing complex in the Narrows.
The Shiers Street public housing complex sits at 4 Shiers Street on a 14,40m2 site.
The NT Government is considering redevelopment options that:
benefit the entire community
increase neighbourhood amenity
contribute to a safer community
provide environmental benefit that improves liveability
focus on community renewal
blend different housing types with open spaces for recreation and common services.
The NT Government is exploring the option of delivering the redevelopment in partnership with a community housing provider. The community housing sector has a strong track record of delivering high quality tenancy management and improving overall neighbourhood amenity.
Community housing redevelopment projects have successfully replaced social housing resulting in a transformed, vibrant community with enhanced liveability.
The Northern Territory Government invites you to complete the online survey.
The survey will close at 5pm on 19 December 2021
If you would like to arrange an alternative way to provide feedback, or require further information, please contact Territory Families, Housing and Communities by email community.housing@nt.gov.au
