Phase 3: Final NT Parks Masterplan 2023-53 has launched
The NT Parks Masterplan 2023-53 sets out the plan for the next 30 years to ensure the diversity and integrity of the Territory’s natural and cultural heritage remain intact. The Masterplan provides a strategic framework, with 9 key themes that guide future programs, projects and partnerships that will conserve the natural environment, maintain cultural values and provide opportunities for new and enhanced visitor experiences. In particular, this Masterplan sets the strategic agenda for the work of the Parks and Wildlife Commission and its partners across government and other sectors.
Phase 2: Now Closed - Draft NT Parks Masterplan 2023 - 53
The draft Northern Territory Parks Masterplan 2023-53 is a comprehensive strategy for Territory parks and reserves that aims to provide assurance to Territorians and the wider Australian and international community who respect and value the rich natural and cultural assets on offer throughout the Territory.
The draft Masterplan provides a strategic framework, with 9 key themes that will guide future programs, projects and partnerships that will conserve the natural environment, maintain cultural values and provide opportunities for new and enhanced visitor experiences. In particular, this Masterplan will set the strategic agenda for the work of the Parks and Wildlife Commission and its partners across government and other sectors.

Thank you to everyone who completed the Phase 1 NT Parks Masterplan discussion paper survey, your feedback is an important part of the consultation process and with phase 1 complete the summary of feedback is available.
Phase 2 consultation is now closed.
The Northern Territory Government is developing a new Masterplan that will provide a clear vision for the future of the Territory’s parks and reserves from 2023–2053. It will map out ways to enhance visitor enjoyment and community engagement, as well as exploring new business and economic opportunities in partnership with Aboriginal Traditional Owners.
Feedback from Territorians is encouraged, to better understand what the community wants from their parks, and how the Government can work to meet these aspirations.
The first phase was the consultation paper with phase 2 being the draft Masterplan made available for feedback and then the feedback reviewed.
The completed plan is expected to be released, upon completion of community consultation in November 2022.
