Infill Development and Subdivision across the Territory
Have Your Say on opportunities for infill development and subdivision in Low Density Residential (Zone LR) areas.
The Northern Territory Planning Commission (the Commission) wants to hear your thoughts about how our low density urban neighbourhoods could develop into the future to best provide for the needs of people in the Territory.
The Commission is exploring, with the community and stakeholders, opportunities in the planning system, specifically within Zone LR (Low Density Residential) to:
- remove barriers to providing a range of housing options in existing urban areas
- provide additional flexibility and choices to landowners and residents/prospective residents of the NT
- promote greater housing diversity and affordability
- respond to contemporary housing needs
- optimise the use of existing urban infrastructure
Your input will help shape a report to the Minister for Lands, Planning and Environment, which will include recommendations on how the NT Planning Scheme could be updated to support more infill development.
How to Get Involved
We want to hear from residents and land owners, councils, industry groups and community organisations - anyone with an interest in housing in the urban areas of the NT.
Before sending your feedback, you are encouraged to read the Discussion Paper.
You can:
- Complete a Quick Poll (one question) to share your views
- Complete a longer survey to provide more detail.
- Write us a note to tell us what you think about infill development and subdivision in Zone LR
- Upload a written submission
- email the Commission ntpc@nt.gov.au
