    Seasons in the Territory

    Seasons in the Territory

Year 2 at Zuccoli Primary School have created at a mural to show the unique two seasons of the territory the wet and the dry. They then included different animals and places that are only seen in our beloved Northern Territory. The students used pastels to create the amazing background and then individually drew many different Australian animals on paper using coloured pencils.

Year 2 Students Ross Park Primary School - Things we love about Our Territory

Year 2 Students Ross Park Primary School - Things we love about Our Territory

After a long brainstorm about the wonderful things that make Alice Springs and the Territory special to the students we created individual art works that all came together to share one message. We love this Territory that we call home. The animals, places, camping, fireworks and special events such as the Finke Desert Race, were just some of the ideas expressed with art. It was a special treat to hear that students love the ghost gums and the wild flowers along with campfires and the stars in the sky. Students helped group the pieces of material together into categories and were very excited to see it come together.

    Central Australian Landscapes

    Central Australian Landscapes

We have been looking how artists use patterns and colours to create different emotions. We discussed our favourite thing about Central Australia, the amazing landscapes that we love to camp, walk, ride and play in. Each student made a paper collage to represent how they feel in the Central Australian landscapes. Using the same colours, patterns and designs the students made a felted square, portraying how they feel. They then displayed the two pieces on an A3 paper.

Aajer Abuthahir - Living in the Northern Territory

This is a digital image I created with all of my favourite things about the Territory. From camping with family and friends, surrounded by stars and smelling the campfire, to driving through the countryside to explore our adventurous playground. The animals and scenery are very special as well.

Landon Robertson - The Feeling of Rain

Landon Robertson - The Feeling of Rain

The best part about being a Territorian is the feeling of rain. My art piece is inspired by the rare site of rain. Living here in the territory the uncommon exciting feeling of rain is a great thing. Even though it doesn’t rain often, when it does there’s a lot of it. In the territory rain is a very precious thing. When the infrequent rain comes it leaves big murky slick puddles. The quick sight of lightning and the roar of thunder. With the rain comes old happy memories and big smiles. The rain crashing on the tin roof is just the start of the storm. I made this piece by first drawing a rain drop on a piece of cartridge paper and then I filled it up with central Australia’s greatest icon Uluru. Afterwards, I colour washed the piece with water colour pencils and blended with a wet brush. Next I put down some glue on my creation and stuck it on some coloured card and drew little drops of rain.
